WordPress 2.3.2 released, Critical Update!

WordPress 2.3.2 has just been released, and it contains critical updates that fix some vulnerabilities in how WordPress creates Draft entries. Anyone using the WordPress 2.3.x line should immediately go to WordPress.org and download the new version. Unless you’ve done something strange to your core files all you need to do is overwrite your current install with the new version to successfully upgrade–then go to wp-admin/upgrade.php in your web browser to finalize the database update.

AWSOM News 1.4.0 Beta 1 released

Hi everyone, it didn’t quite make it for Christmas, but the new AWSOM News Announcement 1.4.0 Beta 1 plugin for WordPress is now available for download from it’s AWSOM.org Product Page. This version now has Multi-News saving capability, as well as Multi-News display capability. You can hold on to important news posts and activate them whenever you need to display them. You can set them to display in a specific order by assigning them a display position.

As is typical with all Beta products, be aware that bugs or issues can arise, so consider testing it out first offline before putting it live on your site. You should also read the Beta News Page to get more information about the changes in the plugin.

If you hit any major issues, find bugs, or have feedback, please send it in using my Contact Page.

AWSOM News Announcement plugin updated to 1.3.4

Hi all, I just posted a quick update to the AWSOM News Announcement plugin to bring it to version 1.3.4. You can download it from it’s product page at AWSOM.org. This version is not the new version with multi-news capability, but is simply a bug fix release for the current version to fix an annoying admin area bug that displays a ” on the screen when using the visual editor. If you don’t use the visual editor then you don’t need to update to this version.

The next major release, version 1.4.0 is still being developed and I hope to have it out soon, but with all of the new changes it will probably take a bit longer than I hoped to get it out. (testing grows considerably more difficult when you can have multiple news areas with different content using different posting styles).

AWSOM Pixgallery 4.4.4 released

I am happy to announce the release of the newest version of the AWSOM Pixgallery plugin, version 4.4.4, is now available for download from it’s product page at AWSOM.org. This new release adds in the ability to automatically watermark your images, Set Custom Folder images, Quickly edit your thumbnails from the full size image page, Display your thumbnails on the index page like the big review sites (with a “see entire gallery” link), Absolute Linking support, and many other upgrades and bugfixes.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of Pixgallery please make sure you go to your admin Pixgallery options page to activate and set the new settings after you install this version.

AWSOM Pixgallery 4.4.4 rc1 now available

Hi everyone, the release candidate for AWSOM Pixgallery 4.4.4 is now available from the AWSOM Pixgallery product page. This new version has the final features of the 4.4.4 release, which now includes the 1st version of the Automatic Watermarking system for Pixgallery. With this new watermarking system you no longer have to go to the trouble of photoshopping your images with your url or custom overlay image, Pixgallery will do it for you. For this first version it’s limited to the bottom right corner of your images, but you can choose the overlay color of the text (which will display your blog url) or you can provide a file called “watermark.png” in the awsompixgallery/images folder which will then be placed over your image (an example file is already there for you to view).

You can view all of the new features and bug fixes on the Beta information page. Please note that I believe this version of the plugin will be the “final” release, but since the new features have begun to grow in complexity, and with the wide range of webserver setups in existence, I’m hoping that people can give me feedback if they encounter any issues with this version before I certify it as official.

Also note that you need to delete your current cache files before the watermarking function will operate. This is also true if you want to switch watermark types. So go to your webserver and find the folder you set as your cache folder (in the Pixgallery settings page) and delete all of the files in that folder (if you are using the default one that Pixgallery creates it is located at wp-content/uploads/cache within your WordPress folder) Also make sure you go to your admin–>options–>pixgallery page and set the new setting to the way you want them otherwise your current galleries may not appear correctly until you do so.
