AWSOM Plugin Troubleshooting page updated

I’ve added a few new entries to the AWSOM Plugin Troubleshooting page to help explain a few issues that have been recently reported for some of the plugins. In particular there is a possible issue in regard to images hosted on external servers (like Flickr or Photobucket) and server security settings that can cause a page loading issue with Pixgallery.

I’m Teaching a WordPress Class at Katsucon

Hi everyone, I wanted to mention that I will be “teaching” a WordPress setup and install class at this year’s Katsucon convention. My panel is on Saturday February the 16th at 10pm. So this is the opportunity for anyone who has questions on WordPress, AWSOM plugins, or any other web development related stuff to come and get answers from me in person. I’d also like to point out that I’m helping sponsor a huge contest at Katsucon involving over 10 webcomics giving away one giant bundle of stuff to one lucky Katsucon attendee. The “Epic Webcomic Win” Contest page is over at my webcomic site Onezumi.com.

So now you have 2 huge reasons to go to Katsucon this year :)

AWSOM Pixgallery 4.4.5 released

The new AWSOM Pixgallery version 4.4.5 plugin for WordPress has been released and is available for download from the AWSOM.org website. This version fixes a few small bugs and adds in 2 new features. The first new feature is the ability to place Navigation arrows below images as well as above them. The other new feature is the ability to place custom CSS entries for your gallery through the admin interface. So you may now more easily customize the look of your gallery without editing your CSS files.

Tutorial: How to Display Custom Content on the WordPress Index Page

With the release of my most recent updates to the AWSOM Archive and AWSOM News Announcement plugins I decided it might be nice to discuss exactly how I place the output of these plugins on the index page. This is a bit more on the advanced side, so the tutorial is now in a new section on the tutorials page for advanced topics. It turns out that there are quite a few pitfalls to my technique, so maybe other plugin developers might benefit from knowing what I’ve done and can avoid the issues I encountered.

AWSOM Archive updated to version 1.3.0

The AWSOM Archive plugin for WordPress has been updated to version 1.3.0 and is now available for download from the AWSOM.org website. This update adds in better code to compensate for Multi-loop themes (when using the Archive in it’s default location) and fixes a small bug that prevented the proper display of the blog name in the drop down archive when using the plugin in a post/page.
