AWSOM News Announcement quickly updated to 1.4.1

Hey everyone, the AWSOM News Announcement plugin for WordPress has been updated to version 1.4.1 and is now available for download from the AWSOM.org website.

This release is a bug fix release that corrects a few things, the biggest being an error in how the plugin upgrades from previous releases. It also corrects an issue that caused multiple displays of the news area in themes that used multiple WordPress loops. Due to these issues it is highly suggested that all users upgrade to this version immediately.

AWSOM News Announcement plugin updated to version 1.4.0

Hello everyone, I’m very excited to announce the release of the new version of the AWSOM News Announcement plugin for WordPress. Version 1.4.0, available at the AWSOM.org website, is a major upgrade to the plugin that adds in multiple news post support, viewer display options per post (so display your news post to everyone, only non-registered visitors, only registered visitors, or any level of registered vistor)–so now you can use the plugin to display ads only to non-registered visitors, or display premium content only to registered visitors. You can now also select to allow Authors or Editors access to the management of your News posts.

Add this to it’s ability to run php code directly in news posts, use the visual editor for news entry, and placement options for pages, posts, index page, or theme code, and you have a full functioning News Announcement/Advertising/Premium Content system.

AWSOM News Announcement 1.4.0 Beta 2 released

The new AWSOM News Announcement 1.4.0 Beta 2 plugin for WordPress is now available for download from the AWSOM.org website. This new version has user level display per news post capability (so you can limit certain posts to be viewed by only registered users or above), Management level selector (so you can allow authors or editors to also administer your news posts), as well as the ability to input customized CSS for your News posts through the admin area.

As the usual blah blah blah this is Beta software so be careful in using it in a live site, but I’m relatively sure it’s stable.

The PC Weenies joins the WordPress avalanche

In what is becoming a common occurrence with webcomics, yet another major webcomic has converted over to WordPress to host their comic: The PC Weenies. In this particular case mr. Sadasivam has decided to move forward with WordPress and Comicpress and leave his old site in place, as opposed to attempting to convert his 9 year long archive of previous work into WordPress (I would make the claim that using AWSOM Pixgallery with a few small adaptions might ease that :) ), but nevertheless it is yet another example that validates what I’ve been saying for awhile, and working toward with this site.

Of course not everyone has the range of support that the big guys have to get help to set their sites up, that’s why you can count on me to be here to help out everyone from the highest trafficked to the just starting out.

WordPress 2.3.2 released, Critical Update!

WordPress 2.3.2 has just been released, and it contains critical updates that fix some vulnerabilities in how WordPress creates Draft entries. Anyone using the WordPress 2.3.x line should immediately go to WordPress.org and download the new version. Unless you’ve done something strange to your core files all you need to do is overwrite your current install with the new version to successfully upgrade–then go to wp-admin/upgrade.php in your web browser to finalize the database update.
