For those of you with WordPress who have had issues using AWSOM Pixgallery on your site because you use Fancy Permalinks and also have your site in a sub-folder, I have a pre-release version of 4.4.4 available for you to try out. This release is stable, but does not have all of the features of the full 4.4.4, but does have the fix in place for the Permalinks/sub-folder issue. If you want to try it out you can download it from http://www.awsom.org/filerepository/awsompixgallery444.zip
To enable the new fix go to the Pixgallery options area and enable the new setting for Absolute linking support in the AWSOM Options section.
I’d love to hear from anyone who had the issue previously if this version corrected your problem, and especially if it DOESN’T.
Hi There I have been trying to get this to work by trying this new version out and it did help with the thumbnails but I still have the problem with the link containing an extra “wordpress”
and if I take that away I get to see the link work proper like. It’s a shame it’s not workin, I like the concept
First, I’d like to say that I love this plugin. It’s really helped in sorting out the logistics of displaying a gallery without requiring that I create a separate independent page/post for each piece. That being said, there are a few features that I wouldn’t mind seeing:
1. Custom thumbnails. Either by adding a thumbnail folder, or by grabbing another image from the folder as a thumbnail. For instance using “picture1.jpg” as the main image and “picture1_thumb.jpg” as the thumbnail for it or grabbing “picture1.jpg” from the “thumbs” folder. There is also the option of having a custom thumbnail creation interface in the dashboard… might be a little complicated to implement though.
2. I’d love to be able to edit the captions on each image without having to type in the file name… just for convenience sake.
3. Over 18 verification for images or galleries that may contain nudity.
Other than that, I know you’re working on individual comments on images, which I am certainly looking forward to.
Great work, keep it up, I’ll certainly keep an eye out for the next update.
Thanks for the feedback Nathaniel.
Custom Gallery/folder images will be in the next release. As for custom image thumbnails, you can go into the cache folder and replace the auto-generated ones if you wanted. They are called the name of the image plus their thumbnail dimensions.
2) A major upgrade to the caption entering interface is in the works. An auto-ingester for galleries will import all the images and create caption pages automatically. Also, the single view pages will have an admin viewable “edit this picture” link.
3) Added to the feature developement list. Right now you might want to use the WordPress page password protect feature.
